That feeling you get
Drowning in regret
Lonely
Isolated, yet
Happy and content
Only
Seeing silhouette
Of past me, I fret
wholly
Dancehall of Sorrows was written for the Tanka Tuesday challenge by Melissa.
Is it possible to be happy and content and live with regret? This question is one that I was thinking about while writing the poem. If one has regrets, do they have to be down and out, and sad? The answer I came up with is no. A person can still live a full and happy life.

You name it so well, this is full of that angst and feelings. In response to your question – I accept that all things coexist so yes that can be together in day to day.
Paul, thank you so much for your comment! Yes, I too think that it is possible, to live a happy life, even if regrets exist. 🙏🏽😊

Colleen, thank you so much! It is the first time writing a Lai poem. I struggled with it, but patience prevailed. 🙏🏽💕
you are just so good with words. I love this. Thanks for sharing. Stay in the shade. No shadows follow you there. Stay in the shade, it is hot outside. xoxo

A beautiful and thought-provoking poem. Yes, I believe it’s possible to carry regrets while still finding peace and contentment. Life teaches us to grow from the past without letting it define our future.
