Thank you for taking time to read my poem. I appreciate all of you who come here to read and comment.
First, I would like to thank Christine and David. Christine, thank you for the nomination to be PoW. David, thank you for your time and effort in organizing and bringing us the W3 poetry prompts each week.
This is a first for me (pun intended) π. Hosting a poetry prompt, I am humbled. I hope you all enjoy and I am excited to read the responses. Have fun creating!
Reminiscent Summertime
An echo poem
It all began with a glance
glance
A quick look that had me in a trance
trance
Butterflies in my stomach do a dance
dance
Not like the two-step but the Harlem shake
shake
My first adolescent crush
crush
Had my face all flushed
flushed
Suddenly cheeks turn beet red like blush
blush
Ah this puppy love, what a rush
rush
Holding hands at summer camp
camp
Eyes light up bright, like a lamp
lamp
Sweat beads on my forehead, damp
damp
Oh, I wonder if he thinks I’m a tramp
tramp
Only one thing is for sure
sure
Summer camp is nothing but pure
pure
Hot fun in the lush green land
land
One must experience it to understand
understand?

OβNika, this made me smile. βButterflies in my stomach do a dance / not like the two-step but the Harlem shakeβ captures that giddy first-crush energy to me. Thanks for your prompt! <3

David
Thank you, David! I really had a good time writing it. I’m glad you smiled on this one. πYou are welcome! ππ½π
This is delightful. I never went to summer camp but it reminds me of my teenage days.
Thank you so much, Robbie! Summer camp was really fun. Those teenage years were the best. ππ½π
Congratulations on being POW! You wrote wonderful echo poem! Nothing like first love.
Thank you so much! I feel like we all have that first crush. ππ½π
Thanks for the prompt, it was fun to right an echo poem. Your poem is lovely, it’s great to have a pleasant memory of the ‘firsts’
Elizabeth, yes, I agree it was fun to write. I struggled with it but still enjoyed it. Thank you so much for the kind words. ππ½π

Great poem on the summer my least favorite season but you made it π sound good
Thank you, Louis! Aw, summer is not that bad… πππ½
What a fun poem! And no mention of the bad food, the tipped canoe, or archery- a first in summer camp poems.
Thank you for the prompt; as said above, there’s enough leeway to find one’s own way with it.
D. Avery, thank you so much! I enjoyed camp and you are so right about the bad food. I also remember the archery π I enjoyed coming up with the prompt, I did struggle with it for a little while. ππ½π
So cute! I love it. Yours is about summer, mine about winter. π
Kaci, thank you! I wanted to have a little fun with the topic for the echo. Ok, I will check out your post about winter. ππ½π

Thank you, Michelle! ππ½π
I really enjoyed this prompt! I had to really read a few different examples to get into the “vibe” and I saw that there are a few ways to do the Echo poem, which is nice to have that little bit of leeway. Your poem is really good! I agree with you about the summer camp! I remember them all so clearly because they were so fantastic!
Christine, I’m right there with you. I read a few examples and that’s why I picked the echo. You can play around with it and have fun! Thank you for the kind words. I struggled a little trying to come up with an idea for the prompt. π As a child, I loved going to camp. It was a great time. π,
Lovely poem.
Indira, thank you! πππ½
