Panhandling Days in the Rearview

Panhandling Days in the Rearview

Driving by this corner
My eyes tear up like morning dew
I used to live here
Harsh nights, cold mornings
Even while I had no place to call home
Love and kindness resided in my heart
Now that an abode has found me
Sometimes the echoes of the street
Ring in my ears during the nightfall
Scrounging and scraping for loose change
Fallen from past days, reduced to panhandling
Now that an abode has saved me
I still cherish pieces of me from those fallen days

Thank you for stopping by to read! 🙏🏽🤍Panhandling Days in the Rearview is written for the prompt by Sadje.

Carved Corner

I can be at home
Just being all alone
Or feeding my brain
Breaking the mundane

Books piled from floor to ceiling
I’m in heaven, oh what a feeling
Abundance of choices, can I pick a genre
Something exciting like maybe a crime drama

No, crime fiction I meant
Getting the juices flowing
Carve me a corner
By the window, much warmer

Sun shining onto the pages
Aiding through those dull stages
Parts of the story already told
Scenes we can skip over

Carved corner all my own
Selfishly unwilling to share
Bound stories from cover to cover
Curiosity I wish to discovery

Carved Corner is written for the WDYS prompt by Sadje.

Thank you for spending time with my poem! 💞🙏🏽

Through The Narrow Lens

Through The Narrow Lens

Through the narrow lens
is a big bad world
take a step back
sit for a minute
absorb
assess
process
the ways of denizens
in the big bad world
hurrying, night and day
bumping shoulders
not breaking stride

Through the narrow lens
we venture to the street
no clear destination
evaporation into the night

Thank you for stopping by to read my poem, Through the Narrow Lens! 💞

I drew inspiration from the prompt for WDYS by Sadje. Thank you as always for the prompts each week.

Trust the Waters, Secluded Not

the middle of the ocean
all alone it seems
no one in sight
east west north south

the sun is turning down
darkness on the cusp
pitch black abyss arriving
deathly dark will soon settle

fear tries to hijack your thoughts
suddenly you remember
Isaiah forty-one, ten
slowly breath returning again

fear now ejected from your body
comfort and assurance ushers in
weakened sense of loneliness
sailing away and strength comes again

you see, being the lone ship in the sea
is not what it appears to be
just because the eyes can't see
doesn't mean his presence is absentee

the Creator is always there
no need to cast a life preserver
he is near to catch you
trust the waters

Trust the Waters, Secluded Not was written for the WDYS prompt by Sadje.

Redwoods and Infinity Covenants

A Triolet

Couple in Redwood forest
Handle with care, don’t beat my heart
Longevity of Redwoods our love will endure
Umbrella canopy keeps us from drifting apart
Handle with care, don’t beat my heart
Strength for each other, our counterpart
Guard the covenant, our union will reassure
Handle with care, don’t beat my heart
Longevity of Redwoods our love will endure

Redwoods and Infinity Covenants was written in response to the prompt by Sadje. Thank you for stopping by to read💞

Essentials of Humanity

An Etheree

Love
Gives the
Courage to
Hope and instills
Passion to enjoy
Embody, realize
Happiness when it shows up
In your life, it is not luck that
Money flows your way, sheer fruit of efforts

Birth of the Lamb

The date is fuzzy
December, January
The birth, the lamb born
Twenty fifth or the seventh
Depends on what you believe

Where Is My Home?

Where Is My Home?

An Etheree

Psst
Hey you
Help, I'm lost
Where is my home
It is no longer
Bulldozed, trampled, gone
How can us fawns find safety
Where will we find food and shelter
Can we sleep in your backyard tonight
We have nowhere else to go, help us please

The poem, Where Is My Home? is written for WDYS prompt #312.

Flutter, Flutter

Flying high and low
Landing for a peek inside
Unique beings and places
Telling their stories
Tantalizing hues of light
Ethereal I appear to some
Reassuring, you are not alone

Flutter, Flutter is an original poem written in response to the picture prompt by Sadje.

Singing and Soaring

Singing and Soaring

A Tanka

Perched bird
Perched now I sit poised
Biding time patience takes flight
Singing a song chirp
Soaring over obstacles
Worries fade in the distance

Flowy Water Under the Bridge

Waterfall

Flowy Water Under the Bridge

Connections are the link
The link that binds
Binds 2 places or two things
What things and places?

The gap between resentment and love
Bridging the gap between the two
takes what? Connections

Resentment is coming down really fast
Over the edge the water cascades down
The bridge there as a buffer
Mediating between resentment and love

Once love is conquered
Renewed love starts to flow
Water under the bridge moves
Just as fast it tides below

Communication bridging connection
The bridge of communication leads to understanding
Understanding opens hearts wide and far
Once hearts are open; the bridge leads to loving-kindness

Flowy Water Under the Bridge is written in response to the picture prompt.

Dark Wooded Night

Dark Wooded Night

A Tanka

So calm and serene
Only the sounds of nature
Leaves rustling beneath
Twigs snapping under my weight
Ambient, soft, like cashmere
